Lesson Details

Complete Beginners

£8 per lesson per person (Booking Essential)

Wednesdays from 7pm until 8pm at the Castle School of Dancing are reserved especially for our Complete Beginners. Two left feet? No partner? Scared?! Don't worry. This class is especially for you!

Ably assisted by volunteers from our Beginners group, who remember well how it feels to be starting from scratch, your IDTA qualified instructor Nick Binmore will deliver a structured lesson in which you'll gradually acquire the basic steps in each of the 4 Ballroom dances and two Latin dances. Building up week by week you'll gain steps and confidence, making friends and finding dance partners as you go along. Complete Beginners is the essential foundation to your dance career. We ask that you try your best to attend weekly so that you acquire all the building blocks you need to move on up to join our lively Beginner social dance community.

Ballroom dancing is surprisingly hard work. So dress comfortably in breathable clothing, bring a water bottle for hydration during the lesson, and wear comfortable low heeled shoes that don't stick to the floor. Later on you may want to invest in suede soled dance shoes but there's no need to invest right at the start.

We start a new group of Complete Beginners every four to six months according to demand, typically January and July. Each new group starts and progresses together, closing to new entrants after week three so that the class can make progress. Students transfer to our follow on Beginners group in their own time. If you've just missed our most recent group start please get in touch. It may be possible to catch up by taking a few private lessons. Otherwise please give us your details and we'll be in touch to let you know our next start date.
